Adrija Rai

Book: First Light, 2015

Story Title: A Bag’s Tale

School: Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior

Blurb: SHE TUMBLES DOWN a staircase, quite literally entangled with history. It’ll take her a while to figure it all out.

I am seventeen, and I don’t see the world like most other girls—I am nearly 5’11’’ and the view from up here is quite different. I have different choices, too. I like superheroes, soccer and love reading crime thrillers. I have an older brother with whom I share a Tom & Jerry relationship. I like to globe trot. I did not know I could write. Imagine my surprise when I was selected for this book-writing project! And now, the only thing I do is think of stories and how I want to write them. I have a sweet tooth, and so every biscuit I eat, must be dipped in Nutella. This story didn’t come to me after thinking for a long time. I just heard somebody talking about superstitions, and in a flash, my story took shape. I like to find reason behind things, even if it’s in the form of a fable.
